The price of the ticket is about two times less than the price of shuttle bus for the Miami to Key West trip. Public buses begin their operation very soon in the morning and are available until noon. Each bus can accommodate maximum of 32 people. Public buses have 6 routes and are operating every day except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
Key Largo started becoming accessible after 1912 when a railway until the island was built. The railway was destroyed in hurricane back in 1935 and in 1938 a two way highway was built. There is hundreds of Key West tour buses that operate daily on this destination.
If you are not in a hurry, are limited in budget or want to save money, you should definitely opt for public transportation as the cheapest means of transportation till the island. An average price of a non refundable ticket for public bus is about $30. Refundable tickets are a few more expensive.
